With just one more month of summer left, now’s the perfect time to finish off your summer bucket list before the leaves start changing! From meaderies to spooky restaurants, here are our top picks for what to do in Cleveland this August.
1. Jam out with animals at Twilight at the Zoo
On Friday, August 6 from 7pm to 11pm, this popular music event brings together local musicians at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. This 21+ event is sure to be the concert experience of a lifetime. 2. Sip craft beer at the Craft Collective Beer Fest
This local beer festival will highlight ten Ohio breweries on Saturday, August 7 from 2pm to 8pm at Craft Collective in Shaker Heights. Gluten free options will be available.
3-6. Imbibe old-school at these Cleveland-area meaderies
Heard of mead? This honey wine with ancient roots is brewed at two spots right inside Cleveland (we added a couple in the area for good measure!) With innovative flavors and a distinct local flair, Cleveland mead might just be your next drink of choice.
7. Check out the Food Truck Tuesday every week in the Public Square!
Food trucks flock to the Public Square every week along Rockwell Avenue. Venture into downtown, grab a bite to eat, and perch on the plentiful outdoor seating to enjoy the best of the city’s food offerings! Free wifi is available. 8. Get spooked at the newly-opened Haunted House Restaurant
Spooks abound at The Haunted House Restaurant in Cleveland Heights, complete with horror-themed special dishes.
9. Check out the Cleveland Pickle Fest!
You read that right: This unique festival on Saturday, August 28 from 9:30am to 2pm is all about pickle appreciation. Though you’ll have to venture a little out of Cleveland proper (to Broadview Heights High School, to be exact), the uniqueness factor just might make it worth it. The event will feature a 5K run and 10 mile bike ride alongside free pickles, pickle products, and merch. There’s even a pickle-eating contest! More information is available here.

Cleveland has plenty of history and things to explore, whether you’re a local or a brand-new resident. Try out a guided tour if you’re looking for structure, or take a walk out of your normal routine to read plaques, do some Googling, and learn about the wonderful city of Cleveland.
23. Appreciate allicin at the Cleveland Garlic Festival
On Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29, the Cleveland Garlic Festival will bring together garlic lovers at North Union Farmers Market in Cleveland. Save the date to sample some of the city’s best garlicky food as well as to view the crowning of Miss Garlic 2021, to taste some garlic ice cream, and to wash it all down with some delicious local craft beer.
