Since 2003, Lock3Live has been turning Downtown, Akron into a winter wonderland during the holiday season. While the center has made a number of changes and safety implementations amid the pandemic, Lock3Live will continue their wintry tradition with a whole lot of family fun.
One major change that visitors of Akron’s annual winter festival will find, is that Winter Nights will not feature the pop-up ice rink. Furthermore, the festival will not reprise its Welcome Santa parade. That said, Akron’s Winter Nights will feature a whole lot of family fun complete with new events.
“We are excited to be able to provide residents and guests with fun, safe options to celebrate the winter season this year,” Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan said. “2020 looks different in a lot of ways and we’ve had to make changes to the programming to adjust, but the new activities we have planned this year truly provide something for everyone!”
Festivities at Winter Nights will include Polar Putt Putt, heated igloo rentals available in 2-hour increments (up to 8 people), multiple light shows, an outdoor art gallery, visits with Santa and Archie the Snowman, and more.
“Grab a drink in the DORA and check out the outdoor art gallery, stroll along the cottages or take in a light show at Lock 4, take your family for a round of putt-putt golf or rent an igloo for an evening. There are plenty of options to enjoy the season while following public health guidelines.”
Throughout the year’s end, Lock3Live will offer free parking up to two hours in certain parking lots.
