As the nights get colder and the wind starts to howl, we’re taking out our cozy sweater from the closet and getting ready for spooky season. Cleveland has its fair share of haunted places, creepy cemeteries and ghost tours, so it’s no surprise that a new Candlelight concert is making its way to the city for only truly adventurous to enjoy.
Taking place at the grand Maltz Performing Arts Center, listen to iconic horror-themed tunes like “Danse Macabre”, the themes from Psycho, Halloween and The Exorcist. Simply sit back, relax and may this spooky season be the darkest, scariest time of year!
A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics
Think of it, an evening dedicated to celebrating the evocative melodies of Halloween classics that continue to equally fascinate us and torment our dreams! Take Bernard Herrmann’s iconic composition of the Psycho theme song. You feel a sense of impending doom through the haunting combination of piercing violin strings that feel like knife stabs and dissonant harmonies.
Similarly, Sain-Saëns’ “Danse Macabre” is a symbolic representation of the universality of death, and features death playing a fiddle to summon the dead from their graves, a piece filled with orchestral effects that further enhance its eerie nature. There are many legendary compositions that fill our hearts with dread, which will be performed by the talented Listeso String Quartet at the Maltz Performing Arts Center.
Switch things up this Halloween and relive some of the most terrifying on-screen moments at a dimly lit venue with lots of history and charm. There are two performances scheduled, at 6:15pm and 8:45pm and doors open one hour prior to the start time.
